Monday Mojo 247

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  My weekend was filled with ohana excitement and a lot of traveling!  It was filled with a San Diego,CA art show, a quick bite with my cousin at a local pizza restaurant, my husband's nephew's third birthday in Long Beach, CA, eating all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and playing Taboo with the Cerritos Cousins (Finally a weekend that we got to hang out!), the welcoming of Kalia, a photo shoot of my niece, Mia Malia, and the birthday of a sweet friend, who just got in ENGAGED!!!!

We were introduced about two years ago by her then boyfriend, who has been my friend since we were in junior high.  I am so happy for them both!  I am filled with excitement that he finally found the one!  I knew she'd be the one! They are perfect for each other!

Their engagement has inspired me to create this card for this week's Mojo Monday entry:

I used left over B&T paper from a 2009 May Constant Campaign (National Scrapbooking Month).  Do you remember the "Tickle Me Pink" set? Yes!  This is it!

Don't forget ANYONE can participate in the Mojo Monday fun! Visit their website for more information:

I chose to do the circle design because just yesterday I was thinking that the next card I want to make is a circle one...I don't make them enough, but with the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy... makes making circle cards easy. :) So this Mojo Monday Design option was perfect for ME!

Mojo Monday 246

Happy Tuesday!  Since my local CTMH Team Meeting with Kay Pekin, I have been inspired by many tips  other members shared.  One team member, Jayma Malme, who is now based in Seattle, WA, suggested that a great way to get inspired and creativity going is to participate in crafting blog challenges.  She mentioned Mojo Monday's Blog.  So on Sunday I decided to sign up for their emails and take on the challenge (Yes, I couldn't wait for Monday to come and open my email account and see their email.  I wish I could had finished the card Monday night, but my day was a long one.)

Here is my first Mojo Monday entry.

Card size: 7x5
Materials:  "Dotty For You" Paper Packet, Grey Wool  Baker's Twine (Neutral Assortment Z1701 $4.95), Canvas Badge Buttons Z1397 $6.95, Stamp Set "New Arrival" C1501 $13.95.
Colors: Colonial White, Grey Wool, Sunny Yellow, and Blush

I decided to make a "Baby" Card because my cousin, Red, FINALLY, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Kalia on May 12, 2012 in which we are celebrating her arrival on Sunday.  Can't wait!  There is always good food around family gatherings!

YOU can join Mojo Monday's Challenge's too!  Click here for more information.

This Monday's layout was designed by Mary Fish.

Happy stampin' with "4 My Friend" Acrylix Stamp Set

On Tuesday I went to my team meeting and two fellow CTMH Consultants shared this new project with us!

I absolutely LOVE this card design, which was made from the Close to My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy.  and I L.O.V.E. this stamp set! It's SO versatile!  I actually used it in a previous project (see April's posting).  Great for making miscellaneous cards to give to others individually or as a set for a friend!  I actually gave the thank you set to Aileen Hernandez of Kailani Blue as a gift!   And she loved it!  I received three hugs!  I'm normally not a hugger, but I am glad I made her happy!

Get your "4 My Friend" (D1510 $17.95) Acrylix Stamp Set Today!  Remember JUNE is Stampaganza Month!  That means when you buy 2 stamp sets, you get the third one for FREE (equal or lesser value)!!!!  This special ONLY happens ONCE a YEAR!  Repeat, ONCE A YEAR!!!! :)  Contact me today to place your order!

Life is Tweet, June Stamp of the Month

LOVE  the June Stamp of Month, Life is Tweet!

Here's how to make this card and what materials were used:

Materials from the Spring/Summer 2012 Close to My Heart Idea Book:
Page 143 S1206 Life is Tweet (June 2012 SOM) $17.95 or $5 with a $50 order
Page 123 Z1474 Kraft Die-Cut Cards & Envelopes $6.95
Page 13 Z1686 Cricut AP Bundle $99.00
Page 16 X7147B Stella Paper Packet $9.99
Page 8-9 Ink Pads $5.25 each: Lagoon Z2195, Cocoa Z2114, Tulip Z2166, Olive Z2137
Page 124 Cocoa Collection Ribbon Z2136

Instructions:
  1. Open Kraft Card & face the inside of the card on the Cricut Mat (the scalloped section will hang off the sides).  Load mat at the straight side.  Move mat down to 3 inches & ½ inch to left (inward; away from the edge).  Cricut Circle @ 2 ¼ inches.
  2. Unload mat & open Kraft Card & Score @ every ½ inch down to the crease of the card (scored lines is perpendicular to the crease).  Raised score should be on the front of the card.
  3. With Cocoa Ink & a Stiple Brush, lightly color the front of the card.  Then with a stubble brush go over the stipled texture to fill in the blank spots and give more texture.  Then with Sandpaper lightly sand the raised scores to give even more texture (make sure to sand downwards, with the line).  The goal is to make the front of the card look like the grains of a tree trunk.
  4. Cricut <Rctngle5> @ 1 inch (Page 35) on Colonial White Cardstock.  Stamp sentiment with Olive Ink.
  5. Cut a 6”x2” Olive Cardstock and adhere it to the Scallop Flap of the Card.  Trim Olive Cardstock to match the Scallop edge.
  6. Cricut <Rctngle5> @ 1 inch (Page 35) on Olive Cardstock.  Cut the edges off and adhere/matt the edges to the back of the Colonial White Cardstock.
  7. Cricut Circle @ 2 ¼ inches Sunset Cardstock.
  8. Stamp image on B&T Paper with Cocoa ink.  Scissor cut.

Happy Scrappin’!

Where was Melika?

Hello my fellow creative paper crafting friends! I apologize for the absence of new posts and May workshop. I was on a journey with my husband and his family in the Phillippines, Hong Kong & Macau, China. I had a blast exploring the two new countries for the very first time. My passport is no longer a virgin with two pages filled! Although, I only visited two countries, I had to go through immigration at least 6 times! I even had trouble when exiting Hong Kong because I am a U.S. Citizen the airline wanted an affidavit of my birth certificate bc I was going back to P.I. verses going back to the U.S. Luckily, the airline had back up procedures, which was verifying my flight/ticket back home. My heart sure did drop to the ground bc I sure did not want to stay a day in HK by myself (although, technically I could had called my friend who came from Mainland China to visit me in HK to the rescue). In any case, I do plan to be back up and creating by next week! I did not think I would suffer from jet lag, but I sure AM! But, I am just about recovered. Thank you all again for the support and patience! Happy Scrappin'!

P.S. This is Macau, China. Ruins of St. Paul's Church. It looks clear now, but about 20 minutes later is was raining! Had a great time in Macau. I got to visit the biggest casino in the world (Venitian-yes a replica of LV), and eat egg tarts! If you ever visit Macau, make sure to visit any Koi Kei Bakery and have their fresh Egg Tart!!! So ono!!! Delicious!!! I could do a whole entire post of Macau and my entire journey, but I don't want to bore you so I'll only give you a little of the many highlights.

April's Workshop: Cards with Matching Box Set.
