Mother's Day Cards Continued =)

Happy Hump Day My Crafty Friends!

My friend, owner of Custom Cool Covers and number one supporter always honors me with sharing my handmade cards with her friends and family members.  She really loved my last Mother's Day Card that she was interested in three additional cards, in which she only asked for two different designs.

I was so excited about her request that I decided to make two different cards in addition to the two she requested.

Here is Card 2 inspired by this Mojo Monday Sketch.  I was too late entering that weeks entry, but I loved it so much that I decided to still use it. :)

My friend also liked this card on my facebook fan page. I didn't have the paper anymore, but luckily I still had the stamp set.  It's an old Stamp of the Month from a couple years back.  Here is Card 3:

Card 4 is also inspired my Mojo Monday's Blog, again I was too late to enter, but still inspired.

Mother’s Day Card

The Chantilly Paper Packet, acrylix Perfect Fit-Mom Stamp Set, and the Mojo Monday Blog inspired this Mother’s Day Card and not to mention, Mother’s Day is just around the corner. :)

I really love the spring colors in this set.  The colors are almost similar to the last project I posted.

Card Size: 5 ½ inches x 4 ½ inches

Cuts:
Base B&T paper cut @ 5 ½ inches x 4 ¼  inches
Ribbon B&T paper cut @ 1 inch x 3 inches
Cardstock cut @ 5 ¼ inches x 4 inches
Page 21 cricut <Circle1> @ 1 ¼ inches
Page 44 cricut <Rctngle1> @ 2 ¾ inches

Materials:
Acrylix Stamp Love Doily
Acrylix Stamp Perfect Fit-Mom

Instructions:
1.  Gather your paper packet, coordinating embellishments, and stamp sets.
2.  Take your card and round the corners with a corner punch
3.  Cut a B&T paper at 5 ½ inches x 4 ¼ inches and round the corner with a corner punch.  Tape to the base of the card.
4.  Cut cardstock at 5 ¼ inches x 4 inches.  Round the corners with a corner punch.  To make the stitches, use the “stitching” ruler to mark the holes.  Then remove the ruler and use a marker to have the illusion of the card has been sewn.  (Tip: the removal of the ruler provides a realistic sewn look).  Tape to the 5 ½ x 4 ¼ B&T base.
5.  Stamp the Love Doily image on a White Daisy Cardstock with Sunset Ink.  Then cut the image out with Scissors.  Tape onto cardstock.
6.  With the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge cricut <Rctngle1> @ 2 ¾ inches (Page 44).  Tape to the 5 ¼  x 4 Cardstock and cover half of the Doily stamped image.
7.  Cut a coordinating B&T paper @ 1 inch x 3 inches to make a ribbon.  Then use Scissors to make the ends of the ribbon or use a square punch.  Tape the ribbon over the B&T <Rctngle1>.
8.  Cut the “Zip Strip” from the B&T cardstock and align with the <Rctngle1> edge.
9.  Stamp “World’s Greatest” image with Cotton Candy Ink.  Then punch with a 2” Scallop Circle.  Tape over the paper ribbon.
10.  Cricut <Circle1> @ 1 ¼ inches (Page 21). Then stamp the “mom circle” image with Sunset Ink.  Adhere with 3-D tape.
11.  Add embelishments.

Viola!  You have your Mother's Day Card!

Basic Fabrics

OH MY GOSH! I am so happy I bought the "For Always Textiles"! I wasn't sure how to use them or if the Cricut would cut them, but this video assured me. Now, I just need to go visit my local fabric store to buy some Fusible tape! Excited. I bought the For Always Paper Packet in hopes to finish my wedding scrapbook and bridal shower gifts. =) I'll keep you posted on that project...as of the looks of it, those project are still getting postponed. eeeeek. Happy scrappin'!

Whooo Loves Owls?

I do, I do!  :)  I loved them since I graduated from high school many moons ago.  One of my mom's best friends and former co-worker, Mama Carol, gave me a stuffed owl.  I felt it was the perfect gift...so symbolic.  Of course, my parent's sent me to Hawai'i and that was an awesome gift!  But, I love symbolic things.

Owls are wise and I felt I was going to go to community college and then a four year college and then to graduate school and become wise just like an owl.  Only the first two were accomplished and I'd like to say I am a little bit wiser than I was before.... :)

Here's the Owl.  Sadly, I donated a lot of collector's items from my childhood years, but I did keep a few collector and not so collector items....here is the owl in almost mint condition.  I keep it in a plastic blanket bag with other memorabilia I thought was worth saving from my childhood years...you can tell how old it is because of how dingy the "Ty" cover is. :)

Anywhooo, what prompted this project you are going to see and probably love is an email I received a couple of weeks ago about joining Instrutagram.  By the way, you may want to check it out and join yourself.  I did and I can't stop raving about it. :)  There was a picture of an owl project that I just loved in the body of the email.  You can view it by clicking HERE.  I thought to myself, "Hey the CTMH Cricut Cartridge does that," so I gave it a try.  DONE  in 5 minutes. The project was so easy and fun!  The creator made her owl box smaller.  Usually, when I make boxes with the Cricut, I like to make them as big as possible so I know in future and then I make a note of it in the booklet.  So my box is bigger and can hold a standard 4.25"x5.5" card.

For my box set, I chose to do a max of three cards. This B&T paper inspired the three cards I created.  Personally I feel B&T paper with large images such as this are difficult for me to work with.  I don't know how to use them as they are.  I usually want to cut them out them or toss them in the "donation" pile.

The first card was inspired by the Wishes Book by Jeannette Lynton on Page 52, "Medallion," except I made this card  4.25"x5.5".

B&T Cuts:
4 1/8"x4 1/4"
1"x 4 1/4"

Cardstock  Cut:
2 1/2"x 3 3/4"

Art Philosophy Cricuts:
Page 21 <Circle> 1 1/4"
Page 48 <Flower5> 1 3/4"

Page 56 Shift <Leaf> 1"
Page 68 Shift Font <FlurDels>  2"

Card 2 is my fav't card; 1. Because of the obvious; 2.  The circles and leaves inspired me.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to include owl cards in the owl box.  It would make sense, but I was thinking the owls I would chose to include in this box wouldn't match the box.

Originally, Page 53 "Delightful Dots" from Jeanette Lynton's Wishes Book inspired me, but it wasn't working with the chevron B&T paper I wanted to use and stamps.  Then I started layering the circles because I already cut them out and I wanted to use them.  As I started to layer, I noticed that they made perfect owl eyes and the chevron B&T paper made perfect owl eyebrows.  Then I googled owl images and that is how I came about this card.

B&T Cuts:
3"x 4 1/4"
Cricut Page 21 <Circle> 1 3/4" Circle
Cricut Page 21 <Circle> 1/2" Circle
For the nose just cut a triangle

Cardstock Cuts:
Cricut page 56 Shift <Leaf> 1"

The third card was inspired by "Delightful Dots." :) I wanted to keep the theme of the leaves, the rose, and the B&T paper hence this card.  I already ran out of leaves so I decided to stamp the leaves' veins.

B&T cuts:
3"x3" cut two times with two different prints
Cricut Page 21 <Circle> 1" Circle
Cricut Page 68 Shift Font <FlurDels>  2"

Cardstock Cut:
Cricut Page 48 <Flower5> 1 3/4"

I used an old paper packet.  But you can find other paper packets HERE.  Or just grab your fav't packet and start creating.  Have fun with it!
