"You Make Me Happy"-Rediscover CTMH

Happy Hump Day Happy Srappers!

On Monday I shared CTMH's "Rediscover" July downloadable.  Today, I am going to share what I made with it.

But of course, I have to share a background story, on Sunday, I had a wonderful Funday with my husband, my ohana, and my sister's friend.  We went to the La Jolla Open Aire Market. If you are a local San Diegan or are visiting, I recommend checking it out.  They have a large amount of farmer's that grow organically, lots of organic, vegan and non-vegan food vendors, such as Indian Food (Love their Veggie Sambousa's with the extra spicy lentil sauce), Lotus World Foods, their food and dessert are all vegan and organic (straight from Susie Farms), even vegan macaroons from  Rickaroons, as well as, a lot of artistic people, sharing art from vegan soap and deodorant, to stamping their own material and sewing dresses, aprons, and silverware items, and so much more.  Check it out! =)

After walking around the Market, we went to Ohana Cafe to fuel up on some Hawaiian grinds.  The grinds were delish.  We had the chicken katsu, salmon salad, hulu chicken, local moco, kalua pork, and La Jolla Musubi (this one was okay-I'd stick to the Spam Masubi).  It was like eating a huge California Sushi Roll with no flavor.

While we were eating a man in his twenties wearing khaki pants, chucks, & shirtless decided to smoke near us, pace, and SPIT!  The smoke I didn't mind because the wind wasn't blowing our way, no shirt-we're near the beach-expected.  IT WAS THE SPITTING that bothered me!  Don't people know spitting spreads germs?! AND it's rude!  The man was less than 3 feet away.  I didn't even know he & his girlfriend were having lunch next to us!  She just laughed when I became furious and outspoken.  I take spitting in public seriously, I do yell at my husband and my brother when they spit in public.

That's when my sister's friend busted out her pay it forward "Hope for Today" cards.  She causally placed it on the table in front of me for the "next" person to pick up.  I joked with her, asking if it was for me, of course, she said it is for anyone that may need it so I decided to take it.  We laughed.  Whooo-Sabbbaaaaaaah!

Hope for Today Card from my sister's friend
Then on Monday, I was looking through the CTMH Consultant News and noticed that CTMH had free downloadables, which I shared on Monday.  Get yours by visiting HERE.

CTMH suggested that they can be used to give to others who are having a crappy day.  So I printed them out because it reminded my of my sister's friend's "Pay it Forward," but of course, I couldn't just print and cut them.  I had to create something with them.  So I made mini cards (4"x3"); readily available for me to use in case I need to attach a card to a gift or someone is having a crappy day.  Then I can tell then how much they mean to me, insert an inspiration quote, or even a JOKE! =)

I used the Surf's Up Paper Packet, Pink Brads, Metal Brads, Green Brads, & Blue Brads, and Hemp.

My husband and I like to share each others art with one another. I love when he shares which ones are his favorite.  I indicated them below. =)

Wasn't sure about his one. This was one of the last ones I put together.
I love this one-obvious huh?
Hubby likes this one. So do It has that old vintage 1970 Beach look.

Surprisingly, hubby liked this one too.

Add caption

This one reminds me of an old 1970 curtain. lol.

One of my hubby's fav't.  This one is my fav't too.  I made this one first.

We both like this one too.  I really love the rays in the background.

Thanks again for reading about my Sunday Funday!  It ended well with more dessert at the Living Room (baklava!)

Why I'm Walking with American Cancer Society for Making Strides Agaisnt Breast Cancer

Hello Family & Friends,

This year I have decided to become activate with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  I joined team Fitness Odyssey about two months ago because the owner of Fitness Odyssey is donating a portion of her proceeds to ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a friend and survivor is walking with us on October 21, 2012 at Balboa Park, and to help continue the awareness and research for breast cancer.

American Cancer Society is one of the largest non-governmental research and funding organization in the nation and it's all because of you and me.  People wanting to make a change and help those in need.  From the stories I heard on August 16 at the ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Kickoff Breakfast, it is not easy to be diagnosed with cancer.  But, when you got it.  You got to fight it. You got to still live your life.  With the help of ACS it is possible.

This year I am challenging myself to become a Pacesetter.  A Pacesetter is a walker that raises at least $2,000.  $2,000 provides a cancer patient with prosthesis and a wig.  I am not asking that you donate much.  $10 will do or even $5.  Times are definitely tough right now, but personally I am not going to let that be an excuse...I used to, but I am not going to anymore.  The C-word has been thrown around too lightly these days and have been thrown in my face three times this year.  A good friend has been diagnosed with Bone Cancer because her lung cancer reoccurred and another good friend has been diagnosed with stomach cancer because her ovarian cancer reoccurred and another good friend was diagnosed with a ovarian cancer for the first time.  The C-word needs to disappear.  But, it won't disappear on it's own, it will only do the former.  With every donation, a life can be saved.

On the morning of August 16 I attended the ACS Making Strides Breakfast Kickoff and learned a lot.  I learned that you may call ACS to seek help and support;  that cancer can affect any age, especially if cancer runs in the family.  I heard two stories, one from a survivor.  She was only 32 and diagnosed with Stage 3.  She wasn't planning to get a check up, but decided to because she was already taking her one year old to the doctor for his check-up.  The second story was given by a survivor's son. The son lost his mom to the disease when she was only 36.  Other stories that were shared were just as tear jerking...I thought to myself, what did I get myself into...then I remembered, I am here to make a difference, for my late grandmother, for my mother-in-law, for all the women that have survived the disease, for all the women that have lost their lives to the disease, for all of us that know anyone that has been diagnosed with any type of cancer.

Please take a moment, and if you can make a donation, $10 can add up and help those 1 in 8 women that are diagnosed with breast cancer everyday.  Please visit my ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Page to make your generous donation.  For every donation made I am giving a set of handmade cards as an appreciation for your donation.

If you'd like to do more and join me on this journey.  Please consider joining team Fitness Odyssey, together we will fight breast cancer.

Cards for Donations

I am walking for the third year in a row for the American Cancer Society Making Strides against Breast Cancer with my friend, Mary of Fitness Odyssey.  This year I am really aiming to be a Pacesetter.  A Pacesetter is someone that raises at minimum of $2,000.  I haven't raised nearly that much since 2005, but I feel that now is the time to do it again.  Within this year alone three very important people  have been diagnosed with Cancer.  In two incidences, there are reoccurances and one is the first occurance.  You can read more about my story my clicking HERE.

One way others, like yourself, are helping me raise money for this cause is with every donation a set (2-10) of handmade cards made by me are sent to you as an appreciation of your support.

I finally made time to make the first couple of sets:

If you would like to join my team (San Diego, CA), click HERE or if you would like to make a donation click HERE.

Because the cards are handmade, I will make a promise to have them mailed out by end of year (December 2012).  In addition, the card set designs may vary.

Happy stampin' with "4 My Friend" Acrylix Stamp Set

On Tuesday I went to my team meeting and two fellow CTMH Consultants shared this new project with us!

I absolutely LOVE this card design, which was made from the Close to My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy.  and I L.O.V.E. this stamp set! It's SO versatile!  I actually used it in a previous project (see April's posting).  Great for making miscellaneous cards to give to others individually or as a set for a friend!  I actually gave the thank you set to Aileen Hernandez of Kailani Blue as a gift!   And she loved it!  I received three hugs!  I'm normally not a hugger, but I am glad I made her happy!

Get your "4 My Friend" (D1510 $17.95) Acrylix Stamp Set Today!  Remember JUNE is Stampaganza Month!  That means when you buy 2 stamp sets, you get the third one for FREE (equal or lesser value)!!!!  This special ONLY happens ONCE a YEAR!  Repeat, ONCE A YEAR!!!! :)  Contact me today to place your order!
